Daylight Savings...

Am I the only one who thinks this [Daylight Savings] is a horrible idea?

I mean, the kids were up at 6 AM.

Sure, you get an "extra" hour, but somehow that did not stop us from being LATE for church...only to find out we were really LATE as I had nursery duty!

Those sweet smiling babies!

I resolved not to be my normally anxious self (due to the fact that we left the house a good 20 minutes later than we should have). How did I fare - you might ask - well...AVERAGE. We were going to church, after all. How would you like it if I showed up to YOUR house a hysterical mess?

I was ready...the kids and the hunk were not...mostly due to the fact that (once again) I failed to factor in the appropriate amount of time wasted feeding the wee one.

Oh Anthony - you silly boy.

Another late factor:

My batch of liquid hand soap was a HIT (see previous post)! I have my two empty bottles refilled and ready for use. I really really want Essential Oils to add for fragrance and their benefits. Found a local provider on Facebook: Young Living Essential Oils. Cannot wait to get some.

In case you were wondering, I am somewhat of an all-natural gal. My husband has an obsession (no, really) with Pine-Sol, or else all my cleaning supplies would be homemade. Not only can you accomplish the same results cleaning in a more cost-efficient manner, but you may also remain worry-free when your kids consume harmful chemicals whilst drinking their own bath water...

....Gross, I know....

You kids are GROSS! To which Oliver would reply, "No, YOU'RE gross."

Thank you, Oliver, for your unending revelations.

I would say that I'm a health advocate, but recently I have not been partaking in healthy, wholesome snack time eating habits. Unless you think that 6 fun size candy bars is healthy?

If you do, and know of a way to consume copious amounts of "junk" food whilst LOSING weight, then please (PLEASE!!!) enlighten me. Who decided to pass out candy on Halloween anyway? ...

 *pause*

Well, I don't know how accurate it is, but I found some information regarding it.

Why, yes. I did just do research mid blog post. I'm just full of curiosity like that! Or, rather, I have a tendency to want to know the little details. I drive my hunk crazy trying to understand him...
after making him upset...
which I tend to do...

---- Average wife? PRESENT! ----

SO, back to the Halloween candy. I asked my much taller half (my hunk-a-hunk-a-burnin'-love) to kindly place the temptation out of reach...

See the black bowl at the top?? I banished the candy to the tallest tower!!! Or, at least the top of the kitchen cabinet. I WOULD have been the top of the fridge, but I can actually reach the top of that. *stands on tip toe* SEE?!?!

WELL, being Sunday, as it normally is this time every week, I rounded up the usual suspects for lunch. Slow Cooked Pot Roast. That's what pleases the hunk, and I must say it is mighty tasty and delicious, too.

(I promise pictures of prep, process, and production [in future]!) <alliteration>
Today was Pork Roast...simple, average:
 - Sprinkle (sea) salt generously over the surface of your portion of pork...then add some more.
 - Sprinkle on some pepper.
 - Place at the bottom of your Crock Pot, or other such slow cooker copycat (...I don't discriminate).
 - Add a pound of carrots...give or take, depending on how much you and your family will eat.
 - Sprinkle carrots with salt (and pepper, if you want).
 - Cook on High 4 - 6 hours (yeah!) or Low 8 - 10 hours (NO...middle night wake time...no bueno)

*I could also add other ingredients...slow cookers are like cooking: everyone has their own preferences and ways of doing things...all equally simple, I'm sure...my hunk likes it this way*

My hunk also likes MASHED potatoes with his roast, so I peel, cube, and (in salty water) parboil them before we head out the door for church. Then you just boil those suckers again upon return, strain them, and mash (or hand blend) away. Again, he likes them simple: Pepper, leftover starchy goodness (that would be some of the liquid left from the potatoes being boiled), milk, butter, and plain Greek yogurt...or sour cream.

AND the hunk likes gravy: take liquid goodness (meat "drippings) from crock pot, bring to boil on stove top, add a cornstarch/water mixture to desired thickness, and serve.

My least favorite task of Sunday lunch:

It still looks like that on my counter....

But my hunk helped by cleaning the table and sweeping the floors. He is so good to me.

Well, after I asked. ESPECIALLY after making a meal FOR him. No one is that perfect.

So, what did I do today? Well, I ate and I was late. At least my life is poetic, even if my writing is not.

Tips: Prep you crock pot meal ahead of time! Place in the fridge (or for those other people, in the freezer...those extremely prepared ones) the night before. Same for the potatoes. Then all you have to do is insert plugs and turn knobs in the morning...

...to keep you from running behind...

<How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! Romans 10:14-15>
