Here's the deal: I'm not really an extreme health freak. I mean, y'all have seen my battles with the leftover candy. You know that I have almost no will power....Please, do NOT go through my trash right now...
...All those candy wrappers...they are mine *hides face in shame*
It wouldn't be so bad, but I seem to be even hungrier after eating the candy and so I eat more "real" food than normal. Although, I did have a craving for carrots that I indulged in...mmmm...carrots.
Healthier choices, though, are not just for what I put into my body and use for cleaning products, but also for what I put ON my body.
I have a secret: I am having a love affair. My new lover is - Coconut Oil.
Before you go thinking this is crazy, let me ask you something: Do you struggle with dry skin? Do you struggle with oily skin? Do you struggle with acne?
I have struggled with all of the above at different times of my life. I think I was oily because I was drying out my face too well (Sea-Breeze astringent as a teenager). THEN I had dry skin during the winter when I was using a gentle cleanser and an inadequate moisturizer. During those different times I would break out.
Since using the coconut oil my skin has almost completely cleared up (now to change my diet). I am actually using less and less foundation (only because I am vain and want an even toned complexion).
I know you all might be skeptical, as was I. Oil on your face? It actually has a TON of healthy benefits. I was on Pinterest! the other day and found a way to whip your coconut oil so that it does not harden in the cold weather...
....Besides, who doesn't like something WHIPPED over the plain, boring, flat version? I mean, which would you rather: Heavy cream or whipped cream? Stick of butter or whipped butter? Block of cream cheese (yum) or whipped cream cheese? Okay on that last one I would personally take either...sometimes even preferring the block. YUM!
Seriously, though. I really love it. It leaves my skin extremely smooth. Ironically, I tend to rub a little bit on after the "washing" portion because my skin feels dry. WHO KNEW!?!
The Great Ones left today. I printed them off a couple family photos with Anthony and got a photo of Great Grandpa with Anthony...
I know it might just be me, but I see a strong resemblance here. He is a very good mix of the gene pool.
It was very nice having the Great Ones here with us. I always enjoy their company, however brief it might have to be.
After they left I did some laundry...the ever-present laundry (maybe I should change my blog name to something to do with laundry...it seems like that is a constant issue addressed...I'll get better.) I did have one slight problem...
That blue container on the top...pushed against the back of the cabinet...I couldn't just reach up and get it. I tried my tippy toes, to no avail. I tried standing on a laundry detergent container...nada. I then climbed on top of the dryer and was finally able to reach it.
I just want to put something into perspective here...I am only 5'2". There isn't a whole lot up high that I can reach. I am usually very careful about placement, but SOMEhow I managed to set myself up for failure. At least the dryer was there to give me a boost...but, honestly, have you ever tried to climb on top of a dryer? Awkward!
I DID manage to get all the laundry for today washed, dryed, and folded...
...But not quite put away. In my defense, I left with my hunk-a-hunk-a-burnin'-love directly after folding the last of the laundry...or else I might have actually put it all away. That is tomorrow's task.
I'm going to be making goals. And I need accountability. Working Out and Eating Right. Making choices that make my life healthier and happier. For now, good night.
