Happy Veterans Day

I just want to take a moment and thank all the men and women who have served this country and secured the freedoms established by our founding fathers for my family and I.

So today I actually have food to blog about. I just know I have made food for my family since I started writing this blog...I just forgot to take pictures or something...I know I made a Pork Roast last Sunday for lunch...but since then...pretty sure we ate out/in every single day.

Monday: Celebrated our anniversary, ate out
Tuesday: No idea...
Wednesday: Church, the kids ate at home, we picked food up and ate at home
Thursday: GG and Great Grandpa were here, we ate out
Friday: hahaha...I don't cook on the weekends...okay, that's not true. I forgot and we ate out.
Saturday: we ate out/in.
Sunday: Pork Chops in the Crock Pot!

Lookie there. I did make food! It only took a week, but I did it.

So here we go, pictures and all.

Get your pork chops:

These are bone-in, however, you can use whatever kind you like.

Season those piggies (salt and pepper).

Place them in your crockpot.

Then get your baked beans.

And just dump that sucker over those piggies.

Place on high for 4-6 hours or on low for 8-10 hours. I put mine on high because I do it the morning of...and if I did it the night before I would have to wake up around 3 just to get them started cooking. It's called "slow" cooking, not slowest cooking...

They probably would be juicier and more succulent at a lower temperature for longer. UH WELL!

Then, serve.

It's still bubbling...mmm...

See, I told you I was an average cook. My hunk-a-hunk-a-burnin'-love thought they were dry and drowned them with BBQ sauce. Then he tried covering himself (after I gave him "the look") by saying he thought all pork chops were dry...yeah, pretty sure I am taking it personally.

I steamed some frozen veggies with it...I was going to take a picture of the plated product, but might have almost completely finished eating it before I reminded myself I was going to do so.

I liked it. If I wasn't cooking for my hunk, I probably would have sprinkled some brown sugar on the pork...but he doesn't like sweet flavors. He prefers salty to sweet. I prefer c) all of the above.

Don't forget to thank a vet(eran).
